Twice daily, apply 4-6 drops to face, neck, and chest, or as directed by a skincare professional. Before non-invasive rejuvenating procedures (e.g. laser, microdermabrasion, peels). Use post peel to combat flaking and enhance peel results on the skin.

In young, healthy skin, the desquamation cycle takes approximately 28 days.

At the beginning of the cycle, each basal keratinocyte divides into two identical daughter cells. One remains behind to divide again while the other differentiates, migrating through the epidermis toward the stratum corneum where it becomes a corneocyte.

Corneocytes contain proteins (primarily keratin) and water soluble substances (including urea, filaggrin, and amino acids). These components provide the proper hydration and make up the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) that helps reinforce the skin’s barrier function, preventing irritation, dehydration, and damage.

As cells migrate upwards, enzymes break down corneo-desmosomes (the links) holding those together, allowing older corneocytes to naturally detach from the surface in a process called desquamation. This revolutionary resurfacing and replenishing serum surpasses the results of a 20% daily glycolic treatment while simultaneously reinforcing the skin’s barrier for healthier, more radiant skin.

    Great serum. Has a slighter thicker consistency that spreads well and quickly soaks in without being sticky. I use in conjunction with Glycolic cleanser and Ferulic and am very happy with the improvement in the appearance and texture of my skin.

    I loved the skinceuticals video on this, explaining why chemial exfoliants are so superb – they work to dissovle the bonds that bind dead skni cells together, and penetrate very deeply. They work thorougly but not harshly.
    I have never found an exfoliant as enriching, gentle on the skin, yet as thorough sa this one. Absolutely superb!

    As a hydrator, post using CE Ferulic, this is like a balm being applied to your skin, but in the form of droplet of hydration that are quickly absorbed (and there is no product waste) and you can immediately feel refreshed and hydrated skin. With winter coming in, this is the perfect product to deliver that moisture but to not clog my pores and cause breakouts.
