Collagen and elastin are responsible for skin’s youthful look. While many factors contribute to signs of aging in the skin, glycation of these structural proteins plays a significant role.
Glycation, a major factor of skin aging, occurs when excess sugar molecules in the body bind to collagen and elastin, forming advanced glycation end-products (A.G.E.s), which are known to cause visible aging.
