Introducing Your Personal Skincare Therapist
(and the Face Behind Our Live Chat)

Considering these tough, uncertain times, we hope you’re being kind to yourself. Research shows that interacting with others can make us happier and help us to feel supported. We want you to know we’re in this with you. Annique Schultz — your personal skincare therapist (and the face behind our live chat) — will remain online throughout the lockdown period!

Get to know her a little better…

Q: Tell us about your skincare journey

A: I completed my Somatologist Diploma at Isa Carstens Academy in Pretoria. I’m well-versed in the study of the human body as a branch of anthropology, including specialisations of material substances, physics, chemistry, biology, and botany. After completing my diploma I worked on cruise ships for 2 years where I was appointed as assistant spa manager. Having worked in spa-based environments and medical-based practices, alongside dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and aesthetic doctors, it aided my development of a personal set of well-rounded somatological and people skills.

As a highly qualified skin aesthetician, I can read your skin’s past, treat your skin’s present, and guide you to a healthy skin future. The experiences I’ve gained over the years I’ve spent in the field have given me a vast knowledge of the skincare industry. Having expertise in most of the brands found on SkinMiles, and having trained with numerous machines and specialised treatments, I’m able to think outside the box.

My skincare motto is: “healthy skin is always in”.

Q: What do you love most about your job?

A:  Helping clients choose the correct skincare products and seeing the improvement in their skin. Also smelling the coffee my work colleagues drink 😉

Q: Tell us about your skincare regimen?

A: My skin care is a little bit of everything. I cleanse my skin twice a day with the Dermaquest C Infusion Cleanser.

My morning routine is as follows:

  1. Cleanse
  2. sk.in marvel
  3. sk.in gloss
  4. Dermaquest Essential Moisturizer
  5. Dr Schrammek Blemish Balm Light (if I don’t wear makeup and over the weekends)
  6. Heliocare 360° Gel Oil-free SPF 50

My night routine:

  1. Cleanse
  2. Exuviance Depuffing Eye Serum
  3. sk.in flash 1
  4. Derca Anti-Pigment Moisturiser
  5. MD Lash Factor

I also have a specific routine I follow over weekends and every second weekend:

Every weekend I do a face scrub and mask. It’s either the ELEMIS Superfood Blackcurrant Jelly Exfoliator with the ELEMIS Superfood Berry Boost Mask or the Alpha-H Micro Cleanse Super Scrub with the Alpha-H Liquid Gold Ultimate Perfecting Mask.

Every second weekend I use the Derca AHA Home Peel Kit with the refreshing IMAGE SKINCARE I MASK hydrating hydrogel sheet mask.

Q: Do you have a favourite product?

A: I have a few!

  • Dermaquest C Infusion Cleanser
  • Exuviance Skin Rinse Bionic Tonic
  • IMAGE SKINCARE PREVENTION+ daily ultimate protection moisturizer SPF 50 (it smells delicious)
  • MD Lash Factor

Q: What’s the one product you can’t live without?

A: I can’t live without skin care in general, but if I really had to choose one… one product from each range, can I do that? The most important product in my skincare routine is sunscreen but I would choose any product with hyaluronic acid.

Q: What are the most frequent questions you get asked?

A: “What are you using on your skin and what are you doing during this time to look after your skin?” My answer is simple: I drink at least 2 litres of water a day. I follow my skincare routine. Sunscreen is important (even indoors). And my skin is taking a ‘no-makeup’ holiday.
